Short White Informal Wedding Dress

Summary: My wedding in 2006 was wonderful.  My husband wore a very snazzy tuxedo and my daughter was an adorable flower girl in a sweet ivory dress.  I wore a simple and short informal white wedding dress.

I did not initially intend to purchase this shorter length dress.  Our families were situated in Maine while my fiancée, daughter and I moved a while back to work in Texas.  We had thought of having our wedding in Texas, but figured our parents, aunts, cousins and the rest of the family would not make it down, and it was easier for us to change our destination than all them doing so.

My concern with a big formal dress was travelling with it.  Going to Maine early just to find a wedding dress there was not an option with our budget and busy lifestyle.

I did meet in a boutique with a designer to review options, and he did suggest going with a beautiful short gown to ensure I would get a dress in time for the wedding, and also I would be able to wear the gown on our honeymoon if there was occasion to do so.

I am a rather petite woman and the gown was quite fitted to me.  I went with a sweetheart neckline that was also strapless.  I went with a traditional silk for the material and wore a beaded shawl for extra warmth as the evening approached.

My accessories and shoes I had left to purchase last minute in Maine.  The wedding style was more informal that formal, so I did not feel a need to bring out any expensive collection.  It was our first wedding, but we had been together for a while and did not feel a need to have an expensive affair.

My memories and photos of the wedding are ones that show the beauty of me in the dress.  I did have an opportunity to wear the dress on our honeymoon.  We vacationed on a beach in Maine and took part in a festival where I did not feel out of place with a white color dress.

I wear the dress occasionally to evening parties.  I find it very versatile because it is white, and to make it appear different I try and dress it up for formal occasions and dress it down for casual by pairing accessories.  I find the short white wedding dress gives me this versatility so it really has become a dress for all occasions for me, instead of just what I got married in.

Due to the durability of my dress, and its portability, I find it the perfect outfit to bring on business trips “just in case”.  Good memories of my wedding come to mind every time I put in on, and in that way it is almost a power suit.  Your choice of a short white informal wedding dress will definitely not disappoint you.
