Summary: I was invited to a wedding recently that I will never forget. I get most of my hemming done by this woman Julia, who is a professional seamstress. She does very excellent work in short order and charges very little. She is one of those women who has found her dream job and stayed with it.
I am not great friends with her but know her well enough that she invited me and her husband to her wedding. I did expect her wedding dress to be very ornate but did not realize quite what she did. Months before the wedding was to occur I would stop by her workplace and take a look at what she was doing.
I never caught a glance at her wedding dress. Later I found out that she had a good friend, who was also a seamstress did most of the basic cutting and construction for her. She had designed her own pattern but the dress making she left to someone else as she thought it might be too personal a project and might end up making mistakes.
She did put all the finishing touches on her masterpiece however. I was very anxious to see her walk down the aisle. It was a traditional church wedding. It is probably the only wedding I have been to that brought fairy tale immediately to mind. I could see the groom was dressed to the hilt and the total image of a prince.
When she came down the aisle you could hear the entire church audience draw in a breath. Her dress was a total princess fairy tale dress. It reminded me of the story Cinderella. With her blonde hair in an up do and her feet encased in shining satin shoes I could totally see what Cinderella would have looked like on her wedding day.
I knew that they planned to travel their honeymoon in Florida and were planning to see Disney world. This wedding was definitely planned to bring all this to life; from the designer bridesmaid dresses, to accessories. The entire feeling was one of a surreal romantic experience.
You may not think you would be able to afford a fairy wedding dress but it is more within your means than you would imagine. I am looking forward to other weddings and hope I get to experience this special type of wedding again. It certainly was beautiful and I really appreciated the attention to detail that went into it. I am sure I am a kid at heart when I remember the prince and princess wedding of this day.
