Extra Long Wedding Gowns For The Tall Girl

Summary: Imagine being the six foot tall girl in high school. After years of torment and tears you finally finish your education and get on with your life. Finally you meet the man of your dreams and he proposes. Your dreams are about to come true, what woman doesn’t want to plan a wedding? And what woman doesn’t want to try on wedding gowns? I can answer this, the girl who was known as the tall girl in high school does not want to try on wedding gowns.
If you are of regular or shorter height, you probably don’t see the problem; there are seemingly plenty of wedding gowns in all different sizes and styles. If you are tall then you realize the myriad of problems that can occur specifically because you are one of those girls who are tall or have longer legs.
Now, my best friend Tabitha had this problem. When her current husband, then fiancée had proposed she called me in rapture. I don’t remember the details of the conversation but I do know that she wanted to have a very traditional wedding, and I recall the conversation going on at length. My own boyfriend had been trying to call me for hours and he was upset when he finally got through.
My relationship did not last but hers certainly did. We were both very young so the thought of going through different bridal boutiques was like a fantasy. Even though the shopping was not for me but for her it still made me feel like I was living out a dream.
The first shop we went to she tried on not less than fifteen different gowns. At first we were so optimistic, looking at these creations on their hangers and seeing the beautiful designs. They looked very good on the rack, and most of them looked great on Tabitha except for the six inches too short skirt
We laughed at the image of her with “hip wader” dresses through the first four dresses. As we tried on more dresses after that the atmosphere got more and more somber. The saleslady more impatient and Tabitha became more uncomfortable.
We left that shop with a very disappointed bride to be. Unfortunately we figured it was probably the shops fault and made our way to another one. We were not as optimistic at first, but after encountering a less than friendly staff member and trying on another range of styles that had the same problem, Tabitha was almost ready to call off the wedding.
The next day brought us to better spirits and we looked online for dresses. After an hour, hope sprang up as Tabitha came across a website that catered to taller thin and plus sized women. The dresses came with extra long skirts and she saw many styles that she liked, some by famous designers. We ended up ordering one. She was very nervous about buying online, but it arrived, and after trying it on we saw it was actually too long and needed trimming!
After a few fittings and alteration session the dress was perfection and Tabitha’s wedding was saved. So if you are tall don’t despair. Speaking from experience, there are dresses out there for tall women, just keep looking, and don’t get discouraged.
