Evening Beach Wedding Dresses

You have decided to have an evening wedding at Virginia Beach. If you live in the area you can handle the planning yourself. If not you may want to enlist the help of a wedding planner to coordinate all of the details.
You now have to choose the perfect dress to wear at your evening beach wedding. A full length dress with a train is obviously not going to work on a sandy beach. Look for a dress not longer than mid-calf and if you will be wearing a veil make sure you can secure it to your head so that it won’t blow away on an ocean breeze. Flowers may be a better choice.
When you search for your perfect dress look for one in a light fabric and one that won’t be ruined by salt sprays. You may also want to find one that doesn’t restrict movement, corsets and trains will make you uncomfortable and hot.
A simple knee or mid-calf length halter, strapless or spaghetti strap dress would be perfect. Don’t forget sunscreen. If you find a beautiful dress that you love but doesn’t come in white, buy it. There is no longer a “rule” about having to wear white.
An evening beach wedding may call for a more formal dress but the choice is yours. Wear what makes you feel good. Your wedding planner can arrange for the officiant. Just let her know whether you want a minister or judge/justice of the peace.
Once nice thing about a beach wedding is there really isn’t a dress code as there can be in churches or temples. If you are comfortable in a strapless dress and find one that you love then that is what you should wear. You may want to get a light cape or shawl in case it is cool at night on the beach.
Your bridesmaids dresses should be the same length as yours for comfort and ease of motion. Keep your hair style and make up simple and light. The salt air and sun will wreck both. You should go for a fresh natural look. If you really want a full length dress opt for the mermaid look. Just keep in mind that the bottom of the dress may get wet and dirty from the sand and salt water.
There are dresses that have a long overskirt that can be worn for the ceremony and removed for pictures and dancing. So you can have both the long more formal look and a comfortable casual shorter dress for partying into the night.
Another option for getting a wedding dress that you love, would be to have it made especially for you. Look for a local dressmaker and bring her pictures of wedding dresses that you like, but be open to suggestions.
