Summary: Being pregnant doesn’t mean you can’t wear a beautiful designer wedding gown. Designers like Vera Wang an Isabella Oliver have beautiful collections of dresses that adjust to the pregnant shape. Isabella Lange has dresses in pure white and oyster that will look great on just about any woman.
The gowns list for between $225.00 d to $675.00. However I found them on sale for between 20% and 70% off for lovely dresses that feature ruching and draping. With the wonderful fabric you will feel and look like a queen. If you want to wear white, by all means go for it.
There is also a line of fine maternity clothes called “a pea in a pod” that makes some beautiful gowns at affordable prices ranging from $168.00 and up but can be purchased for as little as $57.00 on sale.
If you go to a bridal shop for your wedding gown you can still order a maternity gown. However no matter what dress you buy avoid a train. The last thing you need is to trip and fall.
Your dress need not be white, you can wear any color you choose. Don’t let anyone tell you you can’t wear white or any other color. Depending on what point in your pregnancy you are at you may want tow wear flat shoes to decrease your risk of falling.
If you choose to wear a dress color other than white coordinate the colors for the bridesmaids and flower girls to go with your dress.
In the past if a woman was pregnant when she got married or had a child out of wedlock a big wedding was out of the question. The “ceremony” took place before a judge or justice of the peace and maybe in the minister or priest’s office and there was not likely to be a reception.
Now, you can have the big wedding you always dreamed of pregnant or not. Modern clergy are much more tolerant and will allow the big church wedding.
You already know that alcohol is a no-no when you are pregnant but a “sip” of champagne to toast your new husband won’t harm your child, just don’t drink more than that one toast. Drink sparkling water or juice. Your caterer will provide you with that if you let him know before the big day.
Of course you could have an alcohol free reception. More and more people are foregoing alcohol at their receptions to keep guests from over indulging.
After the wedding you may want to donate your dress to an agency that works with unmarried girls that are planning on marrying before the baby’s arrival and ask that she does the same thing for someone else.
